Well , when you HAVE to take leave, and its in the midst of Covid Lockdown with limited travel options, what do you do? and I was travelling alone. Nearly the only way to travel under these conditions in South Africa is walk, cycle or drive. Some options requires that you must have a permit, but thats another story for another day. Suffice to say that I fortunately do have one......it was just coincidence that I ended up in Amanzimtoti, a coastal holiday resort town in Kwazulu, South Africa. Just south of Durban, not too far from where I was born actually, and even nearer to where I grew up in Chatsworth, a creation of apartheid South Africa. I got an apartment there on the beach; and it just became vacant, so I had to do some stuff in it. All these things above conspired together , and the universe decided that I will spend a couple weeks here sorting out my flat. taking a break, kinda killing two birds with one stone. Actually more like catching one fish with many rods. LOL. Because one of the favourite past times in this part of the world is actually fishing. Even though I never held a rod in my hands for almost 5 years, i was really thrilled to give it ago again.

Like I said, coming back to place that I spent quite a few vacations with my family back in the day was nostalgic. Except this time it was solo.....said lockdown conditions and me needing to burn leave days being the main reasons. any way when kids are grown up they tend to avoid family vacations, notice that? Even worse when your spouse/partner becomes selective toward giving a grumpy old you company mainly only if it involves shopping, Well there are shopping centers nearby, but hell my kind holiday, if its at the beach is fishing, beer and books, not necessary in that order of course.

Anyway the first thing that was different this time, is that the beach was a bliss, not a soul in sight, even for off season. The lockdown you see..... second thing is the place was absolutely clean and quite quiet. So you can walk/jog and fish on the beack but you cannot swim or picnic or be with people. I wonder if I ever will experience such absurdity in my lifetime again. but such is the reality of our special COVID dominated times.

Enjoy the pics guys
